For the Love of Vintage

Monday, April 06, 2015

Seriously mother nature does not want to let winter go. Snow storm on the first day of spring, snow again a week later, it's crazy. I'm ready for it all to go away. And hopefully this will be the last winter look you guys see for a while.

Any-who, I am definitely going through a trousers phase, and I recently found the perfect pair. They're vintage, they're Versace, and I love them. Vintage and thrift shops are like the greatest thing, if you really take the time to search through the racks you're bound to find a great/unique piece. [Tip] : make sure you go through all the sections, men's included.

What I Wore :
Coat : Larry Levine
Top : Forever 21
Trousers : Vintage
Boots : Rockport

Till next time.

I never been a person who enjoys wearing too much color. A pop of color in an outfit is what works best for me. Whether it be a coat, bag, or a pair of shoes. So when I went shopping with a good friend of mine I made it my mission to find pop of color pieces. I stumbled across this oversized coat and immediately thought this is it. Now my friend laughed and stated that this coat doesn't count because it is in fact grey. A color that I already wear all the time, along with black and white. But I quickly explained that this coat is actually blue with some grey undertones, so It does! Much like #Thedress, in different lighting this coat will look more blue or grey. Which is more understandable, unlike #Thedress. We went back and fourth for a while but I ended up buying it, along with some other black clothing items. Ha, so much for color. I guess I’m not ready to stray too far away from my comfort zone.

#NYFW TREND

Rebecca Minkoff

BCBG Max Azria

----
So there is one trend that really stood out to me. I've been seeing and loving it on the runways this past week. The 70's. This era is back and in a big way. The Frame Denim collection "1978" is where it all started and then a few more 70s inspired collections started to pop up. The designers are bringing it way back with ease as seen in collections like BCBG Max Azria, Creatures of the Wind and Rebecca Minkoff. It will defienetly be a 70's inspired A/W 2015 for me.

----
Its been a super cold New York fashion week filled with a few snows storms here and there. And of course the bad weather did not stop some people from showing a little leg and pulling out their "non-seasonal" wear. Yes, its fashion week! And yes you got to look your best but you also have to be practical. Some days it felt like the temperature was below freezing, so I really loved those fashion show goers that dressed for the weather and looked good at the same time.

Black Liquorice

Monday, February 16, 2015

 ----
Wishing I was on the west coast right now! I'm not here for these back to back snowstorms. I love New York but No.
Anyways, Worth & Worth hats have been on my wishlist for ages, ( in due time, I will own one) but at this point, they are way out of my budget. I'm always on the hunt for the next best thing. And If you are like me and you want a good quality hat that you can actually afford, Forever 21 is the place to go. Now they are definitely not a Worth & Worth but the quality is still pretty great. I never used to shop at Forever 21 but since this step up, I always catch my self on their website. And I am feeling that new "branded" shop thing they have going on. But on another note I get some serious Azealia Banks in the Liquorice video vibes when I wear this hat, but I guess that's just me. (Lol) Either way I'm here for it!

The Layering Game

Friday, January 23, 2015

Gap Top . H&M Jeans . Thrifted Cardigan . H&M Necklaces

----
Frolicking through the woods on this bitterly cold winter day, it was the first time in a week or so that we didn't have grey skies.
On winter days like this layering tends to be essential. Not only does it allow you to get creative with your look, but it can also provide that extra warmth you need. When layering you want to start off with a base, something light and then add on from there. A play with textures and lengths, even colors, allows you to really have fun with your look and make it your own. So don't be afraid to mix fabrics and lengths. I hope you enjoyed my quick layering tip of the day, if you have anymore tips I would love to hear them.

Thanks for reading!

Current Beauty Favorites

Thursday, January 15, 2015

----
So I want to start incorporating more beauty posts on my blog and I believe a favorites post would be a great start. My current beauty favorites for the month of January are Tea Tree Oil, Nyx Matte lipstick, Andalou Naturals Lip Remedy, and Monoi Tiki Tahiti Oil.
----

----
Tea Tree Oil: Seriously this product has been a miracle worker! This is the thing you use when your skin is all out of control and those spots start popping out of nowhere. Tea Tree Oil will put your breakouts under control. Just make sure you dilute it or it will burn your skin. I add a few drops to a moist cotton pad.

Nyx Matte Lipstick: The lip color I have is "Perfect Red" and is known to be a dupe to Mac's Ruby Woo. At first I wanted to buy Ruby Woo but decided to purchase the Nyx lipstick since it was cheaper. And I love it! It doesn't dry out your lips and stays true to it's matte claims.
----
----
Andalou Naturals Lip Remedy: So I purchased this product because it claims to renew, repair, and regenerate cells, and with this cold weather wreaking havoc on my lips this seemed like the perfect product for me. This product is super healing and gives my lips a smoother look.

Monoi Tiki Tahiti: Coconut oil is my holy grail product! I use it for everything but I wanted to try a new oil with a bit of a fragrance. This product is great because its a Coconut oil blend with Monoi and a warm vanilla scent. This will keep your skin supple, hydrated and moisturized. A really great product for the winter months.

I hope you all enjoyed this post!
See ya soon!

Wonderful Christmastime

Monday, December 22, 2014

Forever 21 Top . Old Navy Pants . Rockport Boots
----
Minus the blistering cold weather, this has got to be one of my favorite times of year. Everything is beautifully lit, people are generally in a better mood, the semester comes to an end and my well deserved winter break starts. So today I have a very simple, last minute Christmas outfit. I do not plan on doing anything fancy this year, so I kept my outfit pretty casual.
----
Recently I was contacted by Chairish, and was given the opportunity to kind of showcase my holiday style with a few of their pieces. Chairish is a marketplace where people can buy and sell vintage items, such as furniture, decor, jewelry, and other accessories. You can check out their amazing shop Here.
 ----
This is a look for a more formal occasion, I went with a little black dress from Mango with a geometrical honey comb pattern (here). Since this is a statement dress due to the pattern I wanted to keep the accessories light and not overpowering. I added these gold pumps from Steve Madden (here) and Rhinestone Earrings and Bracelet from Chairish (here & here).

As well as showcasing my holiday style, I've also included a few of my favorite pieces from their shop that I would pair with my holiday outfit shown above. My first favorite was the Napier Silver & Gold Metal Necklace (here), then the Vintage Monet Bold V Bar Necklace (here), the 10K Gold Filigree Diamond Ring (here), the Large Oval Silver Ring (here), and last but not least the Silver Brass Snake Chain Bracelet (here).

Happy Holidays! Enjoy!
